Originally built as a wealthy merchants' house in the 1740's, the Abbey Hotel re-opened in 1990 following a full refurbishment, which included returning the front of the hotel to its original splendour. Each of the 60 bedrooms has been recently refurbished to create a 'homely' feel.

The Best Western Cliffe Hotel is a converted country house set in three acres of gardens and grounds overlooking the beautiful River Avon Valley in the village of Limpley Stoke, only 4 miles from the historic city of Bath. The house dates back some 165 years and was converted into a hotel in 1961. Gradual improvement over the years has now achieved a combination of country house charm with modern luxury living. We serve organic and fair traded breakfasts until 11.00am. The hotel has a friendly relaxed atmosphere and is situated in a quiet elevated location about 20 minutes walk from the centre. Please note for those with allergies that we have two dogs.

On offer are 18 rooms (16 of which are en suite), all with very comfortable pocket-sprung beds, goose down duvets, fluffy bath towels and good power showers. A tasty breakfast is freshly cooked in the morning, using ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

For your relaxation, the house provides a guest lounge with an open log fire and a selection newspapers, magazines and games for your use.
